To experience the seasons, it has become a routine of mine to paint the first bloom around my surrounding, during its flowering season. This is my 1st depiction of the gorgeous Hakea Laurina in front of my studio.
I was drawn to the sight of this tall native shrub with pink-and-cream pompom flowers. These unique large globose crimson-yellow flowers enrich the winter colour and shine like little stars under the blue sky, the scenery is a pure bliss to enjoy.
Hakea laurina (Pin-cushion Hakea), one of the most admired native plants of south-western Australia, has long been considered a symbol of nobility and longevity.
The flower always blooms in its own time without competing with other flowers.
May we all bloom in our time in the best season.
