Artwork Info – Let’s Make A Wish - Banksia Menziesii (Menzies Banksia) By HSIN LIN 26/03/2021 Artist Acrylic on canvas, painted with palette knife and brushes. Signed at front and ready to hang. Sides Painted. 91.4 x 60.9 x 3.5 cm I encountered this beautiful Banksia bush during my visiting to Royal Botanic Garden in its flowering season. The shape of the flowers looks like candles on cake, shining in vibrant yellow and red under the sun light. This Australian native plant is one of my favourite objects to study, to paint and I especially love the spiritual meaning of it. Some species of Banksia protect their seeds inside follicles while simultaneously opening up when experiencing fire. It reminds me that we shall never give up no matter what kind of difficulty we encounter in life. Sometimes challenges in life may be good things in disguise. Banksia symbolizes rebirth and new beginnings. To move on the past courageously, to have the strength which pain cannot touch and to look forward to tomorrow. Banksia menziesii, also known as firewood banksia or strawberry banksia, is a species of flowering plant in the genus Banksia. Leaves are dull green with new growth in greyish green. Flowers are often in two-coloured red or pink and yellow. Menzies Banksia is commonly seen in Australian Parks and gardens, it provides food for animals and birds, in particular- honeyeaters. May we all bloom in our time in the best season. Hope you enjoy this artwork of mine. On my 1st blog post on April, I’d like to share an insight of this particular artwork. If you have a few minutes, the making of this particular artwork (It’s also featured on Bluethumb’s latest STAFF PICKS!!), from start to finished, the full story is in the video, along with the message I’d like to deliver. So, I started kept track of most of my artworks and record the process and production dates into time-lapse video since years ago, and I am still doing it as you can see. At first, it was actually a reminder to myself that even we may feel down at the moment, we are still capable of what we do or what we want. That’s the fact that cannot be changed. It’s a great energy boost for me – Sun shines on us, have faith in a sunny place. You can now watch the Time-lapse Art Video via the link below or simple click the video above- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6PImsg9C8E Sunny Days Ahead - Yuletide Camellia (2020) By HSIN LIN Artist Acrylic on Premium quality triple primed gesso canvas, painted with palette knife and brushes. Signed at front and ready to hang. 91.4 x 60.9 x 3.5 cm I have this beautiful camellia tree at my front yard which bloom gloriously from every Autumn till Winter. Flower always bloom in their own time without competing with other flowers. It is this time of the year that I can admire its grace whenever I walk pass by the flowering tree. The glossy leaves add shiny looking foliage with sunlight, along with the gorgeous red flowers and buds, it is captivating. Generally, camellia flowers symbolize love, affection, and admiration. Red camellias symbolize love, passion, and deep desire. The Yuletide Camellia is evergreen, meaning that the leaves stay on the plant all year round. These heat-loving, drought-tolerant Camellias thrive in hot weather conditions, needs minimal watering and can handle long periods with little to no rain. I present you these gorgeous camellias, bloom gloriously just for you, in every day, every season. It has become a routine of mine to paint the first bloom of this beautiful camellia tree every year, this is my 3rd depict and the former two had found their forever home, now you are looking at my latest interpretation of my favourite camellia tree. This artwork is painted during the lock down, a special isolation diary that I wrote with my paint brushes. That is why I name this artwork – Sunny Days Ahead – to reminds us that the bright future is ahead of us if we hang on to hope. -WILD BOTANICAL ABSTRACT SERIES 2020 by H.Lin- Original artwork is now available.
